50 Years of Women at West Point Project

West Point is planning a year-long celebration of 50 years of women in the Corps of Cadets, starting July 7, 2026—marking the first day women entered the Academy with the Class of 1980.

Events throughout the academic year will honor the history, challenges, and achievements of women at the Academy. Publications, including a creative writing collection and a pictorial monograph, will showcase their journey and contributions to West Point.

Superintendent LTG Gilland ’90 appointed Donna Brazil ’83 as project coordinator. For suggestions or to assist with this historic milestone, contact Donna.Brazil@WestPoint.edu.

    Fortress West Point

The Revolutionary War-era West Point fortification system is being meticulously reborn through the Fortress West Point Project.

Through this renewal, the goal is to preserve the George Washington fortification system in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution (1775-1783) in 2025, which includes several defense fortification positions being resurrected during the semi-quincentennial period.

Why I Give: LTG (R) Robert L. Caslen Jr., ’75

Returning to West Point this past year for my 50th Class Reunion was a profoundly moving experience. As you know, there is something truly special about reconnecting with classmates, sharing stories of our time, and seeing how the bonds forged at the Academy endure across decades.

Last spring, as I wrapped up my 50-year affiliate class experience and joined the West Point Ready Campaign Cabinet, I am reminded once again of the privilege—and responsibility—of staying connected to this extraordinary institution. When I was asked to once again serve West Point by reaching out to you today to join me in supporting the Superintendent’s Annual Fund, West Point’s #1 funding priority, I did not hesitate. Through WPAOG, each of us can stay linked to the Academy, support its mission, and ensure that the next generation of leaders is equipped with the character, competence, and confidence to succeed in any mission.

  • Egner Hall

    Egner Hall

The Egner Hall Renovation Project upgraded the Glee Club’s rehearsal space into a state-of-the-art permanent home base for the club. A digital acoustic system significantly improved practice conditions to expedite learning, improve team skills, and reinforce individual technique.

Installing recording capability in the Glee Club room increased public outreach through more frequent recording and has enabled them to capture organic, acoustic performance. An audio-visual installation connects with the West Point Band audio tech studio, allowing for interaction with guest artists and presenters, commissioned composers, and viewing performances of other groups.

Centralized HVAC provides consistent temperature and relative humidity for the care of equipment, library, and archives, as well as Cadets and staff at work! Facility improvements benefit other performing Cadet Support Clubs, such as the Spirit Band, String Ensemble, and Rock Band with adequate temperature-controlled storage for expensive instruments, climate-controlled rehearsal spaces, and more functional use of existing space through design improvements.
